(KRON) -- The El Cerrito Police Department is investigating alleged embezzlement, grand theft and conspiracy involving a former employee at a Wireless Plus Verizon store.
The incident occurred at 410 El Cerrito Plaza.
ECPD said store management reported on Oct. 4 that "a store employee helped a suspect posing as a customer to open four fake Verizon accounts, leaving with merchandise with a total value of $36,000."
The employee offered her resignation a day later, according to police.
KRON4 reached out to police for more details on the case and to clarify potential charges.
